After the strike by ground personnel with more than 1,000 flight cancellations, Lufthansa returned to normal operations. Almost all flights take place, a company spokesman said today. There were some flight cancellations at the Frankfurt hub in the morning. Longer passenger lines formed at ID checks and no longer at Lufthansa check-in counters.
On Tuesday and yesterday, Lufthansa canceled more than 1,000 flights with 134,000 passengers affected at the Munich and Frankfurt hubs. The Ver.di union called about 20,000 land workers in a warning strike to put pressure on salary negotiations. The company criticized the shutdown, which was called after two rounds of negotiations, as disproportionate.
Shortly after yesterday’s strike by Lufthansa ground crews, the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) also paved the way for a labor dispute. Voting ends on Sunday, VC collective bargaining board member Marcel Gröls told Der Spiegel magazine in an interview that has now been published.
