On Monday, the Agropur union called for a strike affecting 250 employees at the Saint-Laurent factory in Montreal.

Following the recommendations of their union, the workers rejected an offer presented to them yesterday afternoon and decided to exercise their right to strike.
“We are surprised by the decision, but for us it is important to continue the discussions and resume activities as quickly as possible,” says Mylène Dupéré, vice president of communications at Agropur.
Currently, it is the acting managers who ensure that the milk is removed from the silos to be sent to other factories and thus avoid waste.
The collective agreement for employees at the Agropur plant in Saint-Laurent expired in September and, according to Ms. Dupéré, the talks went “well.”
She also assures that discussions with the union will continue.
