AI is becoming a “risk to humanity,” fears one of its creators

Geoffrey Hinton is one of the parents of the artificial intelligence developed in recent years. The British scientist is considered a pioneer whose contributions to the further development of machine learning technologies were essential. His discoveries have enabled science to make significant advances in areas such as voice and face recognition, automatic translation, fraud detection, customer behavior prediction, and many other applications.

In a recent interview with Wired magazine, Geoffrey Hinton spoke about the latest developments in artificial intelligence and the future prospects for this technology. In his opinion, artificial intelligence still has a long way to go to reach a level of understanding equivalent to that of humans.

But recently, the scientist announced that he had left the Google company that develops the artificial intelligence called Bard and turned himself in to the New York Times. “Future versions of this technology could pose a risk to humanity,” he laments, going so far as to state that “a part of him regrets his life’s work.”
