Compact aircraft eVTOL They are part of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) system – better known as air taxis – and are powered exclusively by electrical energy.

VoloCity This is the passenger transport modality operated by the Volocopter company and, according to its developers, will ultimately be the solution to the congestion of roads in large cities and offer an environmentally friendly option for mobility.

VoloCity flights can be boarded via specific entry points, also called “vertiports”.

On their website, Volocopter explains that they are focused on providing stable, safe and extremely quiet flights. Its electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles are designed for short and medium-haul flights in urban environments.

Not only would its operation be efficient in reducing congestion, but it would also be environmentally friendly as it has the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint left by the aviation industry today.

Volocopter is currently awaiting final certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which they estimate will be granted in 2024.

Once the company received this approval, it would automatically receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and could begin providing services. If this is fulfilled, Next year, air taxis could make their first flights and the establishment of various travel points would begin.

“Volocopter has a total of over 500 pre-orders, including almost 30 from renowned partner companies. “I am full of enthusiasm for the enormous potential of the US and UK markets,” said Christian Bauer, CEO of the company, in a recent statement, announcing its alliance with the Bristow company to realize its activities in the said countries.

However, it is understood that this is the first stage of the service and once approved it is unlikely to be widely used in the short term.

Although no express agreement was reached this Thursday, this commitment to the company could indicate that Florida will be one of the first to launch the service if it receives the appropriate approvals.

Additionally, the company, based in Germany and Singapore, has a dedicated freight transportation category called VoloDrone, which provides a logistics solution for industries in congested megacities.
