Eleven people were injured in an incident involving an Airbus A330 after the aircraft passed through a turbulent region over the Atlantic Ocean last Saturday, December 23rd.
According to The Aviation Herald, the aircraft involved was an Airbus A330200 with registration number 9HMFS of Maltabased airline MalethAero, operating flight DB1975 from Bridgetown in Barbados, in the Caribbean, to Manchester , England.
The jet, carrying 225 passengers and 13 crew members, had taken off more than two and a half hours ago and was at 38,000 feet (FL380), or about 7 miles (11.6 km) altitude, when it encountered severe turbulence, injuring 11 passengers. Reports said it was turbulence under clear skies.

Due to their injuries, the pilots began a detour to Bermuda, where they landed safely about two and a half hours later. The 11 passengers were taken to a local hospital and all injuries were considered minor, according to Bermuda's Ministry of National Security.
Cruise operator P&O Cruises, which chartered the A330200, reported that after a thorough inspection of the aircraft, the travelers were sent to hotels and were expected to continue their journey on December 26th.
According to BBC News, the company said: “We deeply regret this disruption to travel after the holiday and have been working around the clock with the airline and hotels to support customers and ensure they get home as quickly as possible. “
There is still no record of a 9HMFS flight departing from Bermuda this Thursday, December 28th. On December 26, MalethAero sent another aircraft to Bermuda: the A330200 with registration number 9HEFS.
