According to the radical Islamic group Hamas, five premature babies were found dead in a hospital in Gaza city. The bodies of the premature babies were discovered on Tuesday night in the intensive care unit of Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital, the spokesman for the Hamas-run health ministry told AFP news agency on Wednesday. Israeli soldiers have blocked access to the intensive care unit for doctors and family members until this point. When asked, the Israeli army was initially unable to comment on the statements.
Israel searched hospitals
Before the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into force on Friday, Israeli soldiers searched for positions of the Palestinian radical Islamic organization in several hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to Hamas, eight premature babies died in the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa Hospital, due to a lack of electricity for its incubators. Around 30 other people were evacuated and taken to Egypt for treatment. Hundreds of fighters from Hamas, classified as a terrorist organization by the US and EU, entered Israel on October 7 and committed unprecedented atrocities against civilians, including many women and children. According to Israeli data, 1,200 people were killed and around 240 hostages were taken to the Gaza Strip.
Israel then declared war on the Palestinian organization and launched massive air and ground attacks against targets in the Gaza Strip. According to Hamas figures, which cannot be independently verified, more than 15,000 people have been killed in Palestinian territory since then.
