The Undersecretary of State for Cooperation, Technical Assistance and Support to Countries with Less Relative Economic Development in Aladi, Mónica Martínez, described as “successful” the results of the event, which evaluated business opportunities that “represent a potential of about 200 million dollars”. .

In this sense, Martínez explained that “in practice, these numbers can be multiplied by three or four,” since the latest business intentions of the companies participating in the most important Aladi event are still being counted, which has also facilitated the formation of productive companies Chains.

“It is not only about the relationship between sales and purchases of final products between companies, but also the connection to production,” he noted.

Expoaladi 2023, held in person for the first time three years after the Covid-19 pandemic, brought together 368 companies (106 Cuban and 258 foreign) from the thirteen member countries with the aim of expanding cooperation and business contacts within the region.

Among the foreign companies participating, more than fifty from Colombia, 37 from Ecuador and 33 from Mexico.

The areas of agriculture and livestock breeding were represented; Food and Drink; biotechnology and pharmaceuticals; Textiles, clothing and shoes, plastics, containers and packaging.

Aladi was created after the signing of the Treaty of Montevideo in 1980 and its founding aim is to achieve regional agreements on economic and customs issues as well as measures for a common Latin American market.

This intergovernmental organization consists of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. EFE
