Patients take one to three days to recover and experience a feeling of fullness after eating smaller portions, losing an average of 20% of their total body weight over 12 months.

However, according to the site, “a solid commitment to a healthy lifestyle, including exercise and nutritional intake, is required for long-term success.”

Alana is concerned that her weight is genetic, and she hasn’t been happy with the results of dieting or more exercise.

Because Thompson is a minor, her half-sister Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird – who is her legal guardian – has to sign the procedure specifically for those with a BMI of 30 or more.
