A security guard was killed in an automatic weapon attack on Albania’s largest private television station, Top Channel, Sunday night, police said.
A Kalashnikov was shot from an SUV driving past in front of the TV building, killing the 60-year-old.
“Those who have not yet been identified fired automatic salvos of rifles towards the Top Channel building,” police said in a statement.
Prime Minister Edi Rama denounced “criminal aggression” and expressed his “solidarity” with the chain’s teams. The attack was also condemned by all political parties.
At the time of the attack, which took place around 1 a.m. (2300 GMT), the security guard was in a glass booth in the courtyard of the building.
This chain employs hundreds of people and many of them were still at work.
