He is preparing to release his first album in the fall and it was a certain Mario Pelchat who asked him to be part of the album. mile after mile that it produces. Guillaume Lafond finds himself in the company of Patrick Norman, Ginette Reno and Michel Rivard on this compilation CD of covers of the greatest French-language country songs.

Guillaume Lafond will be 27 on June 21. The one we discovered in 2021 thanks to Star Académie is approaching a good thirties if we trust the projects that lie ahead. Starting with his participation in the album Mille après mille, which brings together several well-known local singers and on which he is the only artist to offer a song of his own.

“Mario (Pelchat) came up with the idea, he trusts me and wants to push me forward, which I’m so grateful for,” explains the singer-songwriter. He heard my song Rien à faire and said: We’ll take it! It didn’t take me long to say yes (laughs).

He says he’s flattered that his first released song is on this compilation album, which features Guylaine Tanguay, Paul Daraîche and Marie Denise Pelletier. Together they pay tribute to the greats of the French-speaking country, including André Breton, Paul Brunelle, Willie Lamothe, Marcel Martel and Soldier Lebrun.

First album

The artist who grew up in Saint-Constant admits it was his time at the Star Académie that made him change his mind about singing in French; until he got the desire to write lyrics in French. “I’m going with my feelings, that’s what I’m feeling right now,” continues the man who signed with Audiogram after retiring from the television competition.

His first album is produced by MP3discs and David Lafleche, with whom he immediately felt a strong bond. The country enthusiast, but also music in general, wanted to present ten of his compositions with this first opus; Country songs of course, but also blues, folk and rock.

“All my life I’ve played guitar, I’ve improvised all kinds of music, so why not feature on an album,” he says.

The singer-songwriter, who two years ago never thought he’d get where he is now, just wants one thing: for people to see what he’s got. The sacred fire that drives him to do whatever it takes to bring his dream of singing to life, the passion he has for music, the determination, the desire to motivate those around him and that too Talent.
