Alckmin for Lula’s chosen duo focused on a week in Brazil

“It is Comrade Lula who has the best conditions to articulate broad political forces capable of giving the democratic resistance the breadth that will allow it to confront and defeat Bolsonarismo (supporters of Jair Bolsonaro). “, says a fragment of the letter sent by the PSB to the Workers’ Party (PT).

During the act in a Sao Paulo hotel, Alckmin reiterated that it was not a time of terrorism but of generosity, political grandeur, distance and unity.

“Politics is not a lonely field, the power of politics is centripetal, we will join forces to rebuild our country,” he said.

Lula later confirmed that the PSB would help shape his future government’s plan.

“It is important to know that this list, if formalized, will not only serve to contest the elections. Perhaps winning the elections is easier than the task ahead of us to win back this country,” said the PT candidate, a political organization that formed March 14.

However, the couple’s formalization for legal purposes and registration with the Superior Electoral Court will not take place until June 4-5, when the acronym’s national meeting is scheduled.

On that date, the PT will also ratify the party’s state covenants.

Alckmin announced on December 15 that he was leaving the Brazilian Social Democratic Party (PSDB), where he had built his political career for 33 years.

Since then, his approach to Lula has been openly discussed by the parties. The two met several times and even made public appearances together.

The former governor of Sa Paulo joined the PSB on March 23. In his first speech after joining, he defended the party’s support for Lula’s candidacy and acknowledged that the former union leader is currently “the one who best reflects the Brazilian people’s sense of hope”.

The president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, wrote on the social network Twitter that with Alckmin in the vice presidency, her party and the PSB are “taking an important step in building a great national movement for Brazil, for the Brazilian people, for our democracy and sovereignty ».

Lula, who was rehabilitated after regaining his rights in politics, will seek a third term at the polls after serving 580 days in political prison and having his sentences overturned. He leads all polls by a consistent margin, despite far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro’s re-election intentions.
