In a desperate video plea on Friday, the father-of-seven asked his fans to follow his wife in hopes of taking her past the coveted milestone on Instagram.

He continued to urge fans to follow her again on Saturday, ending his 1 minute and 40 second video with, “I want to get my wife to a million followers please follow my wife.”

It took the actor two days of pleas and pleas on the social media platform, prompting some criticism from people who called his campaign “shallow” and “bizarre,” but his wife actually broke the one million Instagram followers milestone .

Hilaria has since reposted her husband’s message to thank everyone who participated in the virtual birthday gift.

She also shared a photo from her birthday party at home, along with another, thanking everyone for all the well wishes on their special day.
