On Wednesday, video was released of Alex Galchenyuk’s July 9 arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The images are disturbing. We see the former Canadiens striker threatening a police officer and shouting angrily at him: “Your wife and kids’ asses are going to die, I can assure you.” The police’s muscular intervention was also filmed.

Despite the violence of the scene, the ice hockey player escaped fairly well. Five charges were dropped and the American pleaded guilty to only one count of making threats.
Therefore, Galchenyuk faced a prison sentence of 30 days. However, one of those days has already been served and 27 more will be suspended if he completes an alcohol-related sobriety program and has not used or possessed alcohol or drugs for 12 months.
Ashamed of his behavior, Galchenyuk joined the National Hockey League’s player assistance program. He also apologized to the police representative he threatened.
His contract was later terminated by the Coyotes.
