Alex Galchenyuk shines in his KHL debut

Former Montreal Canadiens player Alex Galchenyuk got on the scoresheet in his first KHL game with the St. Petersburg SKA against the Moscow Dynamo on Saturday.

Galchenyuk set up his team’s first goal at the start of the second period.

The center player performed a very good forecheck in the offensive zone before taking the puck away from his opponent. He then played a beautiful pass to his teammate Sergei Tolchinsky, who completed the maneuver with a powerful one-timer.

His team also scored a 2-1 win to open the KHL regular season.

The 29-year-old athlete was released by the Arizona Coyotes after being arrested in Scottsdale in early July. The third player selected in the 2012 draft threatened to kill a police officer and his family. He had just signed a new contract with the “Yotes”.

At the end of his 11 seasons in the NHL, Galchenyuk accumulated 354 points, including 146 goals in 554 games.
