After being canceled last winter due to the pandemic, the first edition of Igloofest Quebec will open on Thursday evening at Place Jean-Béliveau with Quebec DJs Alexa Borzyk and Misstress Barbara.
Electronic music will be heard on the ExpoCité site in the next few days. American DJ Diplo will be performing tomorrow, followed by German DJ Claptone on Saturday on the outdoor stage set up in front of the Videotron Center.

“The 30,000 square meter dance floor is designed to create an enveloping space surrounded by the four heated VIP areas and the containers where projections will take place. There’s something very warm about it,” Gestev general manager Gabriel Fontaine-Leclerc said during a visit to the facilities this afternoon as light snow fell on the site.

The construction of the construction site started last Tuesday. There are 10 bars, two street trucks, a shop, 600 lighting fixtures, 2,000 square meters of projection space and a slightly set-back village area where it will be possible to enjoy marshmallows by the fire, do aerobics and warm up around the campfire. The site is 130,000 square meters.
This first edition, originally scheduled to be presented on March 16, 18 and 19, 2022, had been canceled due to the uncertainty linked to the pandemic.
Satisfied
Gabriel Fontaine-Leclerc states that the sound system was set up to reduce noise pollution between the beginning of the evenings and the last services, which started at 9:30 p.m.
“The sound frequencies are concentrated in the venue to avoid the decibels being too present outside the venue,” he pointed out.
The site offers space for a maximum of 6,200 spectators per evening.
“It is a site that can grow and that we will continue to develop over the years as needed. Igloofest Quebec will be back next year and we will be there year after year,” he said.
Friday night with X-Coast, Paul Woodford and Diplo is almost sold out.
“A few thousand tickets have been sold for tonight and Saturday. We are very happy with the results,” said Gabriel Fontaine-Leclerc.
big budget
The budget for the first edition of this event, which is co-organized with Igloofest Montreal, which has been taking place since 2007, is 1.2 million US dollars.
Igloofest Québec aims to respond to the old capital’s lack of electronic music.
“It is exceptional to be able to offer a unique experience like Igloofest in Quebec City. This is perfectly in line with our goal of offering music lovers a variety of experiences, with diversity both in musical genre and in the concept of the event, and this in all our venues Operations manager of the Quebecor sports and entertainment group, in a press release published on Wednesday.
