On Sunday, the Capitals captain was at the Commanders’ opening game, where he had several great encounters with his son Sergei.
Ovechkin notably posed with great quarterback Joe Theismann, who led the Washington team to a Super Bowl victory in 1982.
The striker’s path also crossed with the Commanders’ new minority owner, a certain Magic Johnson. The basketball great described Ovechkin on social media as “one of the best scorers of all time.”
Of course, the veteran, who turns 38 this week, didn’t miss the opportunity to throw a few balls. A few days into ice training, Ovechkin appears to be ready, regardless of the sport.
If not, he will at least have inspired the Commanders, who beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-16 in front of a sellout crowd at FedEx Field.
