Alexander Skarsgard looks in high spirits as he poses for snaps with fans after lamenting he is “not taken seriously” because of his good looks

Alexander Skarsgard greeted fans outside a London hotel on Monday while promoting his new film after saying he was pigeonholed in his career because of his looks.

The 45-year-old actor looked typically handsome in a gray jumper and dark jeans as he posed for selfies while hiding behind black sunglasses.

He is currently hard at work on the advertising campaign for his latest film, The Northman, in which he plays a Viking prince seeking revenge for his father’s murder.

The film is the latest from Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse), which hits theaters nationwide on April 22.

Alexander will be joined by a diverse all-star cast including Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Bjork and Willem Dafoe.

His coming out comes after Alexander admitted that early in his career his looks made it difficult for him to find more serious acting roles.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the Big Little Lies star admitted, “I don’t really know if that’s why I didn’t get roles. When I started in Sweden there were things about being tall and blonde. But most of the people here are tall and blond.

He continued, “Even so, after my first job I was on a stupid ‘sexy hunky hot list’ and then people didn’t take me seriously. If you want characters with depth but have been labeled “a guy who takes his shirt off,” you won’t get those deals.

Despite his perceived early challenges, Alexander’s career skyrocketed after being cast on the HBO limited series Generation Kill.

He starred in True Blood, The Stand, Succession, Long Shot, Passing, Diary of Teenage Girl, The Legend of Tarzan and even won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in Big Little Lies.

He’s also been named Sweden’s Sexiest Man five times, but admitted to finding the title “trivial”.

“We’re human, so obviously we’re going to love that kind of title. I don’t try to pretend I don’t, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter that much,” he told Mirror in 2015.

“It wouldn’t do me any good if I was constantly watching where I land on this sexy list, or if I slipped down the list and fussed about why that was. One day you’re popular and the next day you’re not. It’s trivial.”
