She published a collage on Instagram in which two selfies are juxtaposed. When the singer smiles in the two photos, the reality looks completely different. In fact, the photo on the left reads, “Uncomfortable in his skin and lived just to show off on Fridays,” while the photo on the right reads, “Sober and happy for 891 days,” which means something over two years.
Accompanying the montage, little Solan’s mother wrote a very personal text in January 2022 about a topic that, in her own words, makes her “extremely vulnerable”, namely her alcoholism.
Among other things, she addresses the insidious side of the disease, which is largely due to people’s surprise when they find out that she is an alcoholic without making it appear that she is an alcoholic. She mentions that, like many others, she was exposed to alcohol at an early age and that she used it as “medicine.” She implores those reading her words who are questioning their own relationship with alcohol to get help.

My alcoholism.
Too often we believe that alcoholism only has one face, the face of the person who drinks every day and is at the bottom of the barrel. However, the disease is much more insidious than we think. Above all, it is scalable. Also, I get a lot of reactions when I say I’m an alcoholic. People are confronted with this because in their eyes I am anything but a typical alcoholic.
Like many people, alcohol came into my life very early. It relieved my internal pain and also my chronic leg pain. It was my medicine. Until I saw the damage I was doing to myself. The relief was temporary and the consequences were serious. It might take me 3/4 days to recover from my weekend “brushing”. I was completely disconnected from myself and my feelings.
The road to sobriety is not easy because I had to deal with a lot of things that I had buried, but quitting drinking was the greatest gift I gave myself.
