Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser divorce after eight years of marriage

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser have split after eight years of marriage.

Kartheiser filed for divorce from Bledel on Aug. 10, his team confirmed to . A Bledel representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The two stars, who didn’t reveal much about their relationship publicly, wed in 2014 and welcomed a son in the fall of 2015.

They met in 2012 on the set of Mad Men, the Emmy-winning AMC series in which Kartheiser, 43, starred as Pete Campbell. Bledel, 40, appeared as Beth Dawes in three episodes of season five.

In 2014, Kartheiser stated that keeping details of their relationship private was a priority for him. “That’s something I’ve come to realize about the most important things in my life,” he told Vulture at the time. “When I share them with the world and I open the door to their seething anger they need to vent or their adoration to flaunt, it diminishes them. It cheapens it; it weakens it. And it’s magical, love, and all of that is… deeply spiritual, and it just doesn’t feel right.”

Bledel rose to fame as Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and received an Emmy Award for her role as Emily in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. In addition, she has acted in films such as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and its sequel.

Kartheiser’s most recent work includes a role in Season 3 as Scarecrow on HBO Max’s Titans.
