There was euphoria at the Imperial Bell, Thursday night, for the reunion between Alicia Moffet and Quebec.

Her vocal cords are in bad condition, she revealed in Instagram stories during the day.

However, disappointing her world was out of the question. Equipped with a cortisone prescription and driven by the determination of a hockey player who puts on her jersey despite an injury, she was faithful to the post office at 9 p.m. sharp.

“I believe in you”

There was nothing wrong with opening Your Knife. The crowd was euphoric and ready to support their idol throughout the evening.

“I trust you,” exclaimed one viewer as Alicia Moffet explained the state in which she was attending her concert.

The young woman then became emotional as the audience sang the lyrics of Body High to her and in perfect harmony – as they did every time she handed him the mic, from start to finish.

Also, the song Didn’t Try, brand new and never recorded before, was already known to some of the crowd thanks to the internet.

She really enjoyed it. “I was completely demoralized,” she confided to me during one of her many surgeries. “There’s nothing that pisses me off more than not having my full voice. Thanks, cortisone; and I know it’s cheesy, but the audience has a lot to do with it.”

Recharge your batteries at the right time

As well as her ability to overcome pain, Alicia Moffet’s performance showcased just how far she’s come since releasing her first album, Billie Ave, in 2020. With the songs from Intertwine – the album released last year -, her collaborations and some new ones, the singer now has the necessary equipment to offer an hour and a half concert without real wave.

Though her arsenal is mostly slow tempo soul and R&B-inspired pop tunes, Alicia Moffet knew how to draw dance tracks at just the right moment to add energy and engage her four musicians. That uplifting impact came from the dance-pop explosion in his duet Never Wanted This with Jamie Fine.

Also, unlike when it premiered in Montreal a few weeks ago, it didn’t have a special guest. No big deal… it’s still the audience that takes the lead, as was the case with the much-loved Ciel, his popular duet with FouKi.

After an impromptu visit from her dog, Willow, during a more intimate segment, the concert only got more intense.

A visit from Willow? Why not…

Vocal fatigue began to be felt as we went further, but Alicia Moffet still ended strong, stringing together Run To You, Beautiful Scar and Lullaby, allowing everyone to sing the “Fuck you” in a beautiful moment of collective liberation. of the chorus to sing.

Meanwhile, her lover shouted “I love you!” from the balcony, the decibel level hit all-time highs, and everyone went home with a light heart.

Alicia Moffet will once again take the Imperial Bell stage for a second sold-out concert on Friday night.
