But Miami police have discovered that the strange figure in the video was actually just the shadow of a person walking.
The footage shows several police cars lined up outside a shopping center with emergency lights on Monday.
In one clip, what appears to be a large gray figure is seen walking near an entrance, spreading rumors among conspiracy theorists.
“Miami's Bayside Marketplace video shows something strange: a glowing figure walking through smoke during a wild scene,” one user wrote.
But Miami police quickly dispelled the rumors, pointing out that the unknown figure was actually the shadow of a person walking.
“What you see in this clip is the shadow of someone walking.” If you look at the bottom of the shadow, you can see the person. “Not a creature,” a spokesman said.
The police response at the mall was triggered by a large group of unruly teenagers causing a disturbance about five miles from South Beach.

There were thousands of comments on social media about what they described as “Miami Mall Aliens.”
They set off fireworks, causing public panic as some thought there was a shootout at the time. Four teenagers were later arrested over the incident.

“10ft aliens/creatures (caught on camera?) were shooting inside and outside the Miami Mall, the media is silent, the police are covering it up and saying the kids were fighting with fireworks, and yet that night all these police cars and air traffic suspended except for black military. “Helicopters… and no media coverage,” one user wrote.
Michael Vega, public information officer for the Miami Police Department, insisted it had nothing to do with alien creatures.
“There were no aliens,” he said. “No airports have been closed.” Nothing is being withheld from the public. LOL.'
