All at once and Top Gun Maverick dominates the 2023

All at once and Top Gun: Maverick dominates the 2023 Oscar nominations

Everything Everywhere All at Once and Banshees of Inisherin lead Oscar nominations – Top Gun receives five nominations including Best Picture – and gives producer Tom Cruise a shot at his first-ever Oscar

Top Gun: Maverick was nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars, a sign that Hollywood is finally listening to audiences and honoring box-office hits over art-house favorites.

The film, starring Tom Cruise, is nominated along with Elvis, Avatar: The Way of Water, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Fabelmans.

While missing out on a Best Actor nomination, Cruise served as the film’s producer.

Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Banshees of Inisherin are also nominated for Best Picture. The two films swept the other categories.

Best Actress is shared between Cate Blanchett in Tar and Michelle Yeogh, who won the award at the Golden Globes for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Tom Cruise missed out on a Best Actor nomination, with Austin Butler (Elvis) Brendan Fraser (The Whale) leading the category instead.

One film that didn’t receive any nominations was The Woman King, starring Viola Davis.

Jimmy Kimmel will moderate the awards ceremony on March 12th. Allison Williams and Riz Ahmed announced the nominees on Tuesday morning.

Only a few have been announced so far, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Sound.

Along with Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Banshees of Inisherin won multiple nominations.

Ratings for the once-popular show have steadily declined over the past five years.

Last year’s drama, starring Will Smith and Chris Rock, revived the sluggish numbers but also made a mockery of the prestigious event.

This year’s award season started with the Golden Globes on January 10th.

Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans won Best Picture, while The Banshees of Inisherin won Best Picture: Musical/Comedy.

Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for her performance in Tár, while Austin Butler won Best Actor for his role in the Elvis biopic.

Kimmel previously hosted the event in 2017 and 2018 when ratings were significantly higher than previous years.
