Islamophobic sticker on the column of the bust of Blas Infante in the Andalusian Parliament.
All factions in the Andalusian Parliament except Vox have asked the president of the autonomous chamber, Jesús Aguirre, to investigate the appearance of an Islamophobic and offensive sticker on the bust of Blas Infante, whose father the Statute of Autonomy recognizes the Andalusian homeland. The mixed group Adelante Andalucía was the first to recognize the situation and called for the examination of the numerous surveillance cameras in order to “clarify the authorship of these events and, if necessary, punish those responsible”.
The sticker consists of an Andalusian flag with the word “Secondary” written in the upper green stripe and “1492”, the date of the conquest of Granada by the Catholic Monarchs, in the lower stripe. The white stripe in the middle reads in Arabic “Wa-la galib illa Allah,” the motto of the Nasrid dynasty, meaning “There is no winner but Allah.” During the celebrations marking the capture of Granada on January 2, small right-wing extremist groups usually use them to highlight the expulsion of the Moriscos.

The statue of Blas Infante, an Andalusian leader shot by national forces in 1936 at the start of the Civil War, is located in the Reception Patio, the main patio of Parliament, very close to the Chamber. As soon as Adelante's request arrived, later joined by the groups Por Andalucía, PSOE and Partido Popular, the Chamber's services began checking the recordings of the surveillance cameras. Parliamentary sources have assured that none of the cameras are aimed directly at the back of the Infante's bust, where the Islamophobic sticker is placed, although they do take general shots of the entire courtyard. The President of the Chamber will report on the investigations at the previously convened meeting of the Parliamentary Executive Committee tomorrow, Thursday.
Adelante MPs José Ignacio García and Maribel Mora have demanded that “the neo-Nazi advertisement be removed because it insults the Andalusian memory, which represents the legacy of Blas Infante in the pursuit of Andalusian sovereignty.” The brand was immediately withdrawn.
Spokesperson for Por Andalucía (Sumar's regional brand), Inma Nieto, described the “vandalization” of the bust as a “particularly serious event.” “If any fascist symbol in the Andalusian Parliament is absolutely intolerable, the fact that it is placed over the statue of someone murdered and disappeared through fascist barbarism is of even greater significance,” Nieto says in his letter addressed to the table The recordings were used to “identify the perpetrators and take appropriate legal action against them.”

PP spokesman Toni Martín also called for an investigation into “the vandalism,” while Socialist spokeswoman Ángeles Férriz described it as “very serious.”
Vox, which is not present at the events in honor of the Infante or at the community day celebrations, made fun of it. Javier Cortés, president of Vox de Sevilla and new person in charge of the party's accounts, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) and linked to a publication in Adelante networks: “And here I thought you were asking the corrupt to return what was stolen as part of the autonomist nonsense… Don't waste our time. The leader of the Ultra party has changed his profile and added the sticker that was placed on the Andalusian's bust.
