“All in the Family” creator Norman Lear has reportedly died of heart problems.
His death certificate, obtained by TMZ on Monday, listed his official cause of death as cardiac arrest.
The document also lists heart failure as the underlying cause of death.
Lear died on December 6 at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 101 years old.
The Post has reached out to a representative for Lear for comment.
Lear was a revolutionary TV sitcom creator and film producer who inspired the world with shows such as All in the Family, Maud, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Sanford and Son and One Day at a Time “enthralled” and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.”
Not only were his shows hilarious, but they also tackled serious issues such as abortion, sexuality, alcoholism, drugs and mental health, which was unheard of in the conservative 1970s.
Jimmy Kimmel, who worked with Lear on several projects, was one of the many celebrities who paid an emotional tribute to the late TV titan following his death.
“He taught us so much about so many serious things while always making us laugh, and everyone who works in television or even watches television owes him a huge debt of gratitude. Especially me,” Kimmel said on his late night show.
He continued that Lear “used situational comedy to illuminate prejudice, intolerance and inequality.”
“He created families that mirrored ours and showed us a world where Archie Bunker and Michael Stivic could not only learn to live together, but to love one another. Even at 101, “Norman cared as much about the future, our children and the planet as anyone I’ve ever known,” Kimmel said.
“All in the Family” star Rob Reiner also responded to the news of his “second father”’s death on social media, writing, “I loved Norman Lear with all my heart… I send my love to Lyn and the entire Lear family .”
Lear is survived by his third wife, Lyn Davis, and his six children: Ellen, Kate, Maggie, Benjamin and twins Madelaine Rose and Brianna Elizabeth.
