1. Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez has been making music for most of her life, but this year is her first Grammy nomination. The singer and actress received an award in the category “Best Latin Pop Album” for her Spanish album “Revelación”. After learning about her nomination, Selena expressed how grateful she was for the recognition.
“I cried. I cried so much because it means so much not only to me but also to my family and heritage. I worked so hard to try to make this sound as authentic and real as possible. It was a lot harder than any album I’ve ever made. And it was really challenging,” Selena told Variety.
2.Olivia Rodrigo
Newcomer Olivia Rodrigo released her very first album in 2021 and ended up being rewarded with seven Grammy nominations! The young musician is nominated for Best New Artist, while her album Sour is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Her song “Drivers License” is also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, while “Good 4 U” was nominated for Best Music Video.
“Woke up this morning to 7 Grammy nominations… Many dreams have come true for me this year but this one is probably the most meaningful. Thanks to everyone who believed in me and supported the songs I write. And thanks to @recordingacademy for the recognition. I am beyond humble. Truly a day I will never forget. So grateful,” Olivia wrote on Instagram.

3. ABBA
Although ABBA was formed in 1972 and is already in the Grammy Hall of Fame, this year marks the group’s first Grammy nomination. The legendary musicians received an award in the Record of the Year category for their release “I Still Have Faith In You”. In response to the nomination, the band proposed a new Grammy category.
“A Grammy should be mandatory for those who dare to go 40 years between album releases. We’re proposing a new category,” said the group Variety.
4. Jimmie Allen
This year saw country star Jimmie Allen receive his first Best New Artist award from the Recording Academy. Though he’s actually been releasing music since 2017, he says it’s an honor to be nominated.
“At the Grammy nominations I was talking to a friend of mine who is a pop and R&B writer. He said, ‘This nomination is bigger than you because you’re a Delaware black man who’s successful in country music. Your Grammy Nomination Came From your success in country music, a genre of music you don’t really associate with black people, you gain or lose here your ability to inspire people who want to do something [similar], but you don’t see many people who look like you.’ That’s when it really hit me how big that nomination was,” Jimmie told CMT.

6. Glass Animals
British rockers Glass Animals are looking forward to their first Grammy following the overwhelming success of their single “Heat Waves”. Though their debut album came out in 2014, the group is nominated for Best New Artist, which frontman Dave Bayley says actually makes sense to him.
“It is amazing. I feel very fortunate to be able to make a third album at all. A lot of people aren’t even that lucky. I’m always trying, with every album, basically being a new artist every time, and trying to do something that sounds like a big step forward. Take some big risks. So yeah, it means a lot,” he told Grammy.com.
7.SilkSonic
Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak may have been individually nominated for Grammys, but this year marks the first time their group Silk Sonic has competed for an award. The duo’s song “Leave the Door Open” was nominated in four categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
