All set for the Iberoamerican Summit in the DR News SIN

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ibero-American Summit, which will be attended by about 15 Heads of State and Government this week in Santo Domingo, will focus on food security and finding solutions to the high interest rates paid by the region for external financing.

Although not on the official agenda of the 28th Iberoamerican Summit, the meeting represents a new opportunity for the country to call on the region to come to the aid of Haiti, according to the meeting’s coordinator.

In addition to the crisis in Haiti, key issues at the post-pandemic summit include food security and the difficulties faced by countries in the region in accessing international credit.

Álvarez trusted that the agreements emerging from this meeting on food safety, environment, digital rights and financial system reforms will help build a fairer life for every city.

Although the inauguration of The summit is scheduled for Friday 24th at 7pm at Ozama Fortresssince this Monday the closure of some roads in the Colonial Zone began.

In addition, a meeting of foreign ministers and a forum for business people from the region will take place on the Friday before the summit.
