Everything seems upside down and contemporary in a new trailer for the Doctor Who episodes due November 2023, which features the return of franchise vets David Tennant and Catherine Tate.
Also starring in the teaser above is Neil Patrick Harris as the unspecified and OTT Big Bad, as well as the live-action debut of Beep the Meep, an adorable ET previously only seen in the Marvel Comics series based on the lengthy ongoing sci -Fi series.
Doctor Who left both fans and a certain Time Lord saying “What?!” as the third and final special of the year, which aired in October, came to a surprise conclusion. The power of the Doctor predictably featured Jodie Whittaker’s expected exit from the series, but when her thirteenth Doctor regenerated at the end of the episode, it was none other than David Tennant who emerged (again).

Showrunner Russell T. Davies confirmed that Tennant, who previously played the Tenth Doctor, is now playing the Fourteenth Doctor, meaning series newcomer Ncuti Gatwa will eventually emerge as the Fifteenth. In turn, Millie Gibson, best known for her role as Coronation Street’s Kelly Neelan, will play the newest companion to go by the glorious name of Ruby Sunday. “If you thought David Tennant’s performance would come as a shock, we have many more surprises on the way!” said Davis. “The path to Ncutis 15th Doctor is full of mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how does it tie in with the return of the wonderful Donna Noble (played again by Catherine Tate)? How, what, why? We’ll give you a year to speculate, and then all hell will break loose!”
The new episodes of Doctor Who will stream Stateside in November 2023 to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the series. And as previously reported, Disney+ is now the exclusive home for Doctor Who’s new adventures, for territories outside of the UK and (of course) Ireland.
(HBO Max will continue to be the US streaming home for the original seasons 1-13, while BritBox will continue to stream S1-26.)
