Almost no cases of “real flu” are reported in Austria. Influenza illnesses continue to decline.

The flu is being detected less and less in Austria. There was an increase in the positive rate to 27 percent last week after the Easter holidays. The proportion of samples in the sentinel samples that tested positive for influenza is currently only 18%, the Virology Center at MedUni Vienna reported on Thursday. In Vorarlberg there were no more cases of “real flu”, in Salzburg and Lower Austria only isolated cases.

Further decline in influenza cases in Austria

Repeated cases of flu were reported in the rest of Austria. The evidence dropped in week 16 of the calendar from nearly 50 to fewer than 15 cases.

In a Europe-wide comparison, there is no significant change in the flu situation from the previous week. Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia and Sweden continue to report widespread influenza virus activity.
