Alouettes: The return of Calvillo, Thorpe and Archambault confirmed

Pleased with the work done during their outstanding 2023 season, the Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday the return of all members of their coaching staff.

The day before, head coach Jason Maas extended his stay with the Sparrows until 2026 and they will once again be supported by the same men.

Assistant coach and special teams director Byron Archambault and defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe will once again assist Maas in defending the Canadian Football League (CFL) championship title. Former on-field fan favorites Anthony Calvillo and Luc Brodeur-Jourdain will also be there.

Calvillo's work was noticed in 2023 as he helped Cody Fajardo become an elite quarterback in the CFL again while also being named the Most Valuable Player of the Gray Cup game. The offensive coordinator was able to secure the fourth trophy of his career after his successes as a player in 2002, 2009 and 2010.

The Alouettes also announced the returns of Michael Lionello (air raid coordinator and receivers coach), Greg Quick (linebackers coach), Chandler Jones (assistant defensive backs coach), Corvey Irvin (defensive line coach), Dave Jackson (running -Backs coach) David Brown (offensive line assistant).

“I can’t wait to work with these guys again. “They are exceptional people, hard workers and good teachers,” Maas said at a news conference on Wednesday before learning of the contract extensions.

The Alouettes' 2024 season begins June 6 with a highly anticipated reunion with the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.
