Bianca Andreescu was eliminated from the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg on Tuesday.
The fifth-seeded Canadian held a dry run 6-3, 6-2 ahead of Spain’s Rebecka Masarova, the 69th racquet in the world.
On Monday, Andreescu narrowly escaped a catastrophe against Britain’s Sonay Kartal (264th) in her first game. She needed a break in the last game to win in three sets 6-2, 3-6 and 7-5.
The Mississauga native faced major problems on duty Tuesday. She only managed an ace against seven for her opponent. The 23-year-old hit 81% of her first serves. Masarova had an advantage over the Canadian, winning 92% of her points on first serves.
In addition, another Canadian, Rebecca Marino, was eliminated from the tournament in Eastbourne, England. She lost 6:4 and 6:2 against the Chinese Xiyu Wang.
