Professionally, Amal now specializes in international law and human rights. She recently told TIME magazine that she chose human rights to “help free the victims.”
“I respond to what I see in the world,” she told the outlet. “A world where the guilty are free and the innocent are imprisoned – where the abusers are free and those who report abuses are imprisoned. As a lawyer, I can do something about it. Or I can at least try.”

“So my work is focused on trying to rescue victims and prosecute offenders – and more broadly, the work of our foundation is trying to do that really on a large scale and globally.”
Amal revealed that her larger goal is to “improve the system.”
“I’m guided by what I’m really outraged about and what I think I can actually try to influence. And I may only be able to influence things on a case-by-case basis, but ultimately the plan is always to try and improve the system.”
