Amanda Bynes won’t go to another conservatory as family asks ex-fiancé to ‘keep out of touch’

Amanda Bynes’ family have banned their ex-fiancé from contacting her as she remains hospitalized in psychiatric confinement after suffering a nervous breakdown in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Now a source close to the star has exclusively revealed to that her parents – who are by her side at the hospital and are helping doctors figure out the cause of Amanda’s episode – have banned the star’s ex-fiancé, Paul Michael , which to have contact with her because he fears that he “doesn’t have her best interests in mind”.

“They don’t want their ex-fiancé anywhere near them and he’s been told not to have any contact with her,” the insider says.

“He doesn’t seem to have her best interests at heart and her family doesn’t have anything good to say about him.”

On March 19, almost a year to the day after the end of her previous eight-year conservatory term, Amanda was taken to a 5150 psychiatric facility by police after she was found without clothes on the streets of LA.

After the incident, Paul, who has been in an on-off relationship with Amanda since they called off their engagement last July before getting back together a month later, told Page Six, “She’s off her meds and is still on da off her meds… she’s wild.’

Speaking to the outlet, Amanda’s former flame insisted the two are still “friends” – but the source says her family doesn’t see it that way and is indeed taking every precaution to ensure Michael isn’t touched to her has the actress.

The insider added that Amanda’s parents, Rick and Lynn, are still working with doctors to find out exactly what caused their daughter’s recent mental setback – but that they aren’t currently considering placing her under a different conservatory.

‘[A conservatorship] doesn’t seem like the best course of action at this time,” the source shared. ‘[Amanda] has been doing well lately and this seems to have been an isolated case.

“Her parents are by her side as she continues treatment. She is cooperative.’

“They’re trying to figure out what caused them to have this breakdown. She is believed to have stopped taking her medication but this has not yet been determined.’

The latest details on Amanda’s ongoing treatment come as it was reported that the star’s 72-hour psychiatric detention has been extended by a week – and could well be up to 30 days.

She then reportedly changed her mind and had the driver drop her off in Hollywood.

This all went down after Amanda hosted a much-anticipated reunion with the cast of All That at 90’s Con on Saturday, citing an “unknown illness”.

Amanda previously told People magazine that she was “really excited” to see her Nickelodeon cast members – including Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli and Lori Beth Denberg – and to meet fans 23 years after the original show ended.

In April 2022, police were called to the home Amanda and Paul were sharing at the scheduled time, after the two got into a major argument.

Afterwards, Amanda took to her Instagram to say that he had been acting in an “alarming” way and she was “scared” of what he was about to do.

She said she found a “stash of crack cocaine” at her home, which he had been using “for the past six months.”

This was particularly alarming considering Amanda’s past substance abuse problems. Earlier this year, a case manager said she “consistently tested negative for illegal substances.”

Paul responded to Amanda’s allegations by saying that Amanda “tried to kick me out, but I left to get my own place. I moved home and set boundaries.’

He said Amanda made up the drug allegations against him and claims she “embarrassed him” to “take attention away from her.”

“She did it to shame me,” Paul said at the time, adding that Amanda “lied and cheated and had too many affairs the whole time they were together.”

Bynes and Michael famously got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2020. They reportedly met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting just months before before living sober together.
