‘It’s rare that I’ve gotten to tile anything!’: Amanda Holden hopes husband Chris Hughes will let her ‘physically get involved in renovating their home’ after watching their DIY show
Amanda Holden is hoping her husband Chris Hughes will be convinced to let her help renovate their next home after watching her new DIY TV show on Friday.
The 51-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge helped with comedian pal Alan Carr, 46, refurbish two apartments in Sicily for their new BBC show Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job this summer.
She admitted how good it felt to be “physically stuck” and hopes her husband, the music producer, will allow her to knock down walls, tile and plaster their new home.

Amanda told The Mirror: “I want my husband to see me doing it because he wouldn’t trust me to do half of it at home. It was rare that I was allowed to tile something.
“I want him to keep me physically stuck more. It was far more satisfying to know that we made it and that there are walls that we made – and they’re not wobbly or falling down.
“We did tile work…we made lights, we made the whole kitchen out of lightweight blocks.”

The TV personality told her husband earlier this year that she wanted to move out of their lavish Surrey mansion, which they bought in 2015.
The mum-of-two said she was bored with the £5million home on the market because it’s too perfect and there’s nothing left to improve on.
She gave the luxurious property a showbiz makeover and is hoping to make a £1.5million profit after pouring £3.5million into the five-bedroom home seven years ago.

After buying the house in 2015, she and Chris described the mansion as their “forever home” and Amanda admitted she had been “persuading” her previous owner to sell it to them for years before they finally relented.
The couple also own a cottage in the Cotswolds which they renovated last year.
Amanda added a glamorous outbuilding to the Surrey property earlier this year, which houses another bar and the hot tub, which sits on a large wooden deck, near a palm tree she planted in honor of Sir Captain Tom Moore .
The garden room also includes a wood-burning stove and comfy sofas, which Amanda says are perfect for “a sneaky afternoon disco nap.”
The Heart FM DJ renovated her bespoke Wilson Fink kitchen during lockdown, adding new cabinets and countertops and mirror tiles on the walls.
The mansion, which includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a study, is located behind two gates that lead onto a private road to the house.
Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job airs January 6th at 8:30pm on BBC1.
