Amanda Kloots reveals her first dates after husband Nick Cordero’s death were with widowers

Nick Cordero’s widow Amanda Kloots has revealed that her first dates after his death were with men who, like her, had lost their spouses.

Amanda, 40, rose to public prominence in 2020, offering regular Instagram updates about her late husband’s battle with COVID-19, which led to months of complications before he died aged just 41.

Now on Cheryl Burke’s podcast Diving Deep, she said that dating widowers “helped ease that discomfort” of having “a lot of emotional baggage.”

Since Nick’s death, Amanda has published memoirs about him with her sister and has become one of the hostesses on the daytime series The Talk.

She is also raising her and Nick’s three-year-old son Elvis, who was just over a year old when he lost his father in a heartbreaking manner.

Amanda admitted to Cheryl that “it took me a while to feel okay” about the prospect of dating again after her husband’s death.

She ‘put my toe in the water’ and ‘the first few dates I went on were with other widowers, so that immediately helped ease the discomfort of, ‘I come with a lot of emotional baggage.’

“You don’t have to explain yourself,” Cheryl offered, and Amanda agreed, “Yes! You don’t have to explain yourself.”

The widower’s appeal was also, ‘I just don’t have time for cops***!’ and would rather ‘go down and get dirty and talk about life experiences’.

Those experiences, according to Amanda, are “what makes everyone interesting, and I want to find out who you are now and how, you know, this growth from that horribly low place,” she shared.

“On the other hand, if you sit down and talk about the loss of your loved one and start crying with someone, it pretty much kills a lot of romantic vibes.”

During the interview, she also fired back at the trolls who slammed her online for re-entering the dating scene within a year of losing Nick.

Her response to the backlash was to “interview other widows live on Instagram” to “put a face on what people were calling a terrible thing.”

Amanda claimed that “the second I did that, everything stopped,” explaining that her method of dealing with setbacks is “to face it.”

Her critics, she feels, recognized, “Oh, she’s trying to move forward, it’s really hard, oh, she’s having a really hard time with it, she’s not — oh, I thought she was just a stunner and already is.” married and secretly engaged and pregnant.’

In response to the trolls, she said: “No, guys, no, I’m literally just, I’m going for a coffee and I cry all the way there and I cry all the way home and two days after it.” Does it make you feel better? Can you judge me less now?’

She announced they were back together in July 2021, and confessed on The Talk that the endeavor was “pretty scary” and “tough.”

Amanda, who before Nick was married to a stage actor named David Larsen, said of her romantic past: “I met both of my husbands on Broadway shows. We first became friends, then we got married.’

She mused, “I never actually went on a date. And I just started dating again and it’s so crazy to be dating for the first time at 39 years old.

Nick was hospitalized with COVID-19 in March 2020 and eventually tested negative for the virus, but still suffered a series of health complications and died on July 5.

He spent 95 days in hospital and had a series of medical crises, including punctured lungs, two mini-strokes and a blood clot that led to a leg amputation.

Shortly after Nick died, Amanda shared a glimpse of a letter she wrote to Elvis about the tragedy that befell her family.

‘I miss him so much. I miss his voice, hugs, kisses, smiles, silliness. I wish the quarantine would have been the three of us together every day,” she wrote.
