Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Season 2 Finally Has a Release Date and a New Trailer – Forbes

While everything comes to a standstill due to the writers’ and actors’ strike, some already completed shows will be pushed out over the next few months. And one of them, Invincible Season 2, is one we’ve been waiting for forever.

Amazon just released a new trailer for Invincible Season 2, which mostly showcases its extensive voice cast. But it also has a release date, November 3, 2023. The first season already came out in April 2021, which means that there will essentially be two and a half years between seasons 1 and 2.

Why did it take so long for Invincible Season 2 to come out? Pick the reasons: the pandemic, creator Robert Kirkman’s legal troubles with an alleged Invincible co-creator, and of course the basic fact that…animations take a long time. Most anime fans are used to having very, very long wait times between seasons of certain shows.

The trailer doesn’t give much away as to the plot, but we do know it’s about the multiverse, which doesn’t follow trending but is pulled from the source material and is reportedly handled a fair bit better than what we’ve seen from the MCU lately.

As said, the main purpose of the trailer is to show off the voice cast which already includes Steven Yeun, JK Simons, Sandra Oh and Gillian Jacobs. But in addition to the old line-up, we have an insane amount of new members including (take a deep breath):

Sterling K Brown, Rob Delaney, Calista Flockhart, Phil LaMarr, Luke MacFarlane, Tatiana Maslany, Scott McNairy, Jay Pharoah, Ella Purnell, Tim Robinson, Ben Schwartz, Rhea Seehorn, Lea Thompson, Paul F Tompkins, Shantel VanSanten, Peter Cullen.

No doubt you know many of these names from either live action or their voice work. There are some big ones in there, which isn’t a huge surprise considering the voice cast of the first season. The best is probably Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, whose character is introduced at the end of the trailer.

If you haven’t seen the two-and-a-half-year-old first season of Invincible, I strongly encourage you to do so before November 3rd. Yes, it’s another gory superhero series like The Boys, but just as good in many ways, yet somehow dramatically different and definitely its own thing. Check it out while the rest of us wait for the final second season.
