AMD is now integrating latency measurement within the GPU pipeline directly into its Radeon drivers. Owners of an RX 7000 or an RDNA 3 iGPU can view this value. However, only a few games currently support it.

Do you know NVIDIA’s PC latency (PCL) statistics? The technology now has its AMD counterpart, branded as System Lag. This measure is specifically intended to highlight the benefits that Radeon Anti-Lag+ offers. It is therefore aimed exclusively at RDNA 3 solutions, i.e. Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards and RDNA3 iGPUs.
AMD points this out This function determines the time between the game generating the image and the GPU rendering it, not the time on the screen (Other factors influence this process). In other words, it is not an equivalent of the NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer, which measures the total latency from the mouse click to its display on the screen (this technology therefore requires a compatible monitor).

Latency, but not that caused by frame generation
System delay is available from driver version 23.30.01.02. AMD describes the function as follows:
“System delay is the latency measured between the moment the game generates the image and the GPU finishes rendering. This does not include factors such as display latency, which can be increased by features such as Enhanced Sync. Additionally, system lag does not include the additional latency of generating images from AMD Fluid Motion Frames [disponible depuis le début du mois]. To view this, the Frame Generation Lag metric can be used. System lag is only available when Radeon Anti-Lag+ is enabled. For Anti-Lag+ games that support both DirectX11 and 12, system lag is only available with DirectX 12. When using DirectX 11, system lag is shown as N/A.
As the company explains, System Lag only works with the DirectX 12 API in the following Anti-Lag+ compatible games:
- Apex Legends
- Overwatch 2
- Dying Light 2
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider
- Rise of the Tomb Raider
- Resident Evil 4
- Ghostwire: Tokyo
- Fourteen days
- The Last of Us: Part 1
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
- Resident Evil 3
- Borderlands 3
The drivers are currently in preview. You will find the System Lag option from Performance > Metrics > Tracking. Let’s also remember that thanks to a new driver from AMD, you can also benefit from the Fluid Motion Frame with a Radeon RX 6000.

The feature is available with preview driver 23.30.01.02 when Radeon Anti-Lag+ is supported. The numbers look very similar to Nvidia’s PC latency, so information must be available directly from the game (render start) to cover the… pic.twitter.com/odgJHJ7Afp
