The defense withstood multiple attacks from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and didn't allow any points in the final 15 minutes. Meanwhile, Michigan scored two touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters.
Wolverines (15-0) star running back Blake Corum had an outstanding game with 134 yards on 21 carries. He was the one who crossed the end zone twice in the final eight minutes, while his teammate Donovan Edwards did the same in the first ten minutes.
Quarterback JJ McCarthy threw just 18 balls, 10 of which reached the target for a gain of 140 yards. Penix, on the other hand, was intercepted twice on 51 throws, of which only 27 were successful.
The season was not without challenges for Michigan. Head coach Jim Harbaugh received a three-game suspension for signal theft and another for violating COVID-19 regulations last season.
