American man dies yards from home in snowstorm

An American died 24 yards from home last day after being caught in torrential snowfalls in the northeastern United States city of Buffalo. Monique Alexander, 52, went shopping at the market on Christmas Eve.

Monique’s daughter Casey Maccarone said she waited hours for her mother to return but heard nothing from her. The young woman then asked neighbors in the region on Facebook for help.

According to the British portal Chron, a man contacted Casey and reported that he had found a woman wearing the same jacket and jeans that Monique was wearing that day.

Then the neighbor of the victim’s daughter explained that he found the woman in the middle of the snow and dragged Monique’s body to a place where it would not be buried by the storm.

“[Monique] always felt like a superhero and invincible so I think she thought she could handle the conditions [climáticas]’ Casey told the North American broadcaster CNN, confirming that the mother does not normally listen to advice.

Storm Elliot has killed 53 people in the United States, 31 of them in Erie County, where the city of Buffalo is located, according to the agency AFP.
