Michael Grimm, the musician who won season five of America’s Got Talent, is in intensive care and his wife shares a health update.

Lucie Zolcerva-Grimm took to social media to share news of her husband’s whereabouts in an 11-minute video she posted to Instagram.

“I know you all love Michael and while I want to protect his privacy and his request not to disclose anything, we’re kind of in a situation,” she said.

Lucie said that Michael was “struggling badly with his health, lacking energy and not being able to perform concerts”. His health was of such concern that they “eventually took him to the hospital,” but “they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him.”

Things escalated on Memorial Day and the singer “could barely walk, couldn’t lift his head” and became unresponsive. He was taken to the emergency room as they thought he might be having a stroke, but he wasn’t.

While he was in the hospital, “Grimm started talking nonsense, and suddenly physical convulsions set in.” [and] his blood pressure went up.” Grimm was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he spent the entire week.

“To protect his health, they had to put him on a ventilator and sedate him very heavily so he didn’t have a stroke and he didn’t go into cardiac arrest,” Lucie added.

Lucie said he was eventually taken off the ventilator and is able to breathe on his own again but remains sedated.

Lucie asked fans to be patient as doctors are still trying to figure out what illness her husband has and have canceled upcoming shows this month and July.

She continued, “Not only does Michael need to regain full consciousness, which he hasn’t done yet. Also, he now has to undergo physical therapy as he has been bedridden for over a week. As he currently has no voice, he has to undergo a vocal cord repair [the] He needs to be on a ventilator for now and get all his organs and all his muscles going again. Mentally he needs to recover from this and return to a sane state. So it may take a while.”
