America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm rushed to hospital with health problems and unconscious

America’s Got Talent season five winner Michael Grimm is currently hospitalized and sedated from a mysterious illness.

The 44-year-old singer’s wife, Lucie Zolverva-Grimm, took to her husband’s Instagram account on Tuesday and shared an update on Grimm’s condition with friends and family. He is currently in intensive care and has been in the hospital since Memorial Day. In the video, Lucie described that Grimm hadn’t been well for a while and that he looked “sickly” and was “fussy”.

At first, Lucie said, she thought Grimm had had a stroke, but “that wasn’t the case.” She said there were signs he wasn’t well, such as a lack of energy and difficulty finishing recent performances bring. It got to the point where he could barely walk and could barely lift his head.

He was then taken to the hospital, where his health continued to deteriorate. He started talking “gibberish,” his blood pressure skyrocketed, and ended up in intensive care, where he’s currently. Lucie said the good news is Grimm was taken off the ventilator on Tuesday but remains sedated.

Now that he’s been bedridden for over a week, Lucie says her husband needs physical therapy. Lucie said: “He’s making progress so that’s good. It just takes time.”

Lucie, who said she was physically and emotionally exhausted, said she finds solace in knowing Grimm is surrounded by a phenomenal team of doctors and nurses. His June concerts in Las Vegas were canceled, as was his July 4 concert in Arizona. Lucie said she won’t be canceling anything in August just in case Grimm improves enough by then.

Grimm was born in Colorado but grew up in Mississippi. He was 30 when he won season five of America’s Got Talent after dedicating “When A Man Loves a Woman” to his then-girlfriend Lucie. He bested child singer Jackie Evancho and Grimm subsequently competed on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, but was eliminated early in the competition.
