Last week, the Chilean government admitted that someone stole emails from its Joint Chiefs of Staff.
López Obrador was speaking at his daily press conference following a report by journalist Carlos Loret de Mola that hacked files revealed previously unknown details about a serious health problem he had been suffering from in January.
The 68-year-old president downplayed the act of hacking, saying, “There is nothing that is not known.” He indicated that the break-in appeared to have occurred during a change in the Defense Department’s cyber systems.

Loret de Mola said the stolen emails included medical records on the president, including an emergency flight from his ranch to the country’s capital in January when he was suffering from severe angina and was at risk of suffering a heart attack. It was not previously known that this flight had taken place.
Later that month he underwent a cardiac catheterization, which was disclosed but was described as a routine check-up at the time. López Obrador suffered a heart attack in 2013 and suffers from high blood pressure.
