Amy Jo Johnson has ended rumors about the reason she chose not to star in the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reunion movie for Netflix.
“Please stop saying I didn’t do a reunion because of the money. Just not true,” the former Pink Ranger tweeted.
Johnson continued, “Maybe in my 50’s I just didn’t want to wear spandex or couldn’t go to it [New Zealand] for a month. Or none of your beeswax. [Jason David Frank] & I have both decided against it for reasons of my own. They were filming before he died.”
The Felicity graduate added she was “excited to see [her] Friends” Davis Yost and Walter Jones “rock it” in the film, in which they play the Blue and Black Rangers, respectively.
Johnson previously addressed not being a part of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which is due out on the streamer on April 19.
In a Jan. 18 tweet, she wrote, “For the record, I never said no…I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in store! I look forward to watching my friends kick ass!”

According to the Netflix logline for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, the film takes place “thirty years after the wise and powerful Zordon founded the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the team faces a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, you are called once again to be the heroes the world needs.”
The 30th Anniversary Special is inspired by the iconic mantra from the franchise “Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger” meaning you’re always welcome to join the Ranger family again.
The film’s trailer features legendary villain Rita Repulsa returning to face the Power Rangers once again. Thuy Trang, who died in 2001, played the Yellow Ranger and is honored in the reunion film. Catherine Sutherland reprises her role as Katherine Hillard, playing the Pink Ranger, and Steve Cardenas returns in the Red Ranger suit, playing his role as Rocky DeSantos.
