Amy Schumer assures critics that Kirsten Dunst had a hand in THIS placeholder Oscars joke

Kirsten Dunst isn’t upset that Amy Schumer thought she was a “seat filler” during the Oscars because she was “on hand” with the whole gag.

After Amy got some excitement on social media for seemingly disrespecting Dunst for not knowing who she was during last night’s Academy Awards, Amy took to Instagram to reassure fans that the whole thing was a “choreographed” comedy.

Dunst, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, was thrown from her chair in the audience during the routine when Amy thought she was a seat filler and wanted to speak to her husband and fellow contestant Jesse Plemons.

“Hey, I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst,” Amy wrote on social media Monday. ‘I love you to! That was a choreographed part that she was involved with.

She added: “Wouldn’t disrespect that queen like that.”

Schumer, who co-hosted the show with Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes, walked into the audience after Will Smith and Chris Rock exchanged blows.

She came into the audience to talk a bit about the show and pointed to Dunst, who said; “Here’s a seat filler.”

“Can we get you up darling, do you want to go to the bathroom, okay?” The comic continued, guiding the actress out of her chair and out of the camera frame.

Amy dropped down to talk to Kirsten’s husband and Power of the Dog competitor, Jesse Plemons.

“Jesse, I loved you in Power of the Dog,” she gushed.

Deadpan Jess replied, “You know, that was my wife.”

“You’re married to this placeholder?” Schumer gaped in response with perfect comedic timing. “Oh, that’s strange.”

The whole thing was done so expertly that people on social media really thought Amy thought the Bring it On actress was a seat filler.

Both Dunst, 39, and Plemons, 33, who have been together since meeting Fargo in 2016 and got engaged in 2017, received their first Oscar nominations for their work in The Power of the Dog.

Dunst was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role as Rose Gordon and Plemons for Best Actor in a Supporting Role as George Burbank.

Dunst wore a strapless red tulle dress by Christian Lacroix for her red carpet appearance. She wore sparkling diamond earrings by Fred Leighton and her blonde locks were pulled back for the occasion.

Plemons performed in a classic black-on-black tuxedo, including a black coat, black shirt, black bow-tie, black pants and black shoes.

The Power of the Dog is an adaptation of the 1967 novel of the same name by Thomas Savage about a pair of brothers in 1925 (Benedict Cumberbatch and Plemons).

Her life is turned upside down when George von Plemons suddenly marries Dunsts Rose and takes in their son.
