Amy Schumer revealed Wednesday that one of her jokes from the 2022 Oscars led to death threats severe enough for the Secret Service to intervene.
The comedian, 40, spoke with Howard Stern, 68, on his SiriusXM show and said her seat-filler joke with Kirsten Dunst, 39, and Jesse Plemons, 34, drew a lot of ire from those who thought she would Haze “do not respect”.
The actress said the death threats she received “were so bad that the Secret Service contacted me about this matter. I said, “I think you have the wrong number. It’s Amy, not Will,” adding, “The misogyny is incredible.”

The Life & Beth star tried to calm angry fans the day after the Oscars by saying: “Hey, I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst. I love you to! Wouldn’t treat this queen with such disrespect.”

In a previous post shared to her Instagram account after the shocking altercation, Schumer shared that she was “still triggered and traumatized.”

Turning her attention to Smith, Schumer said she saw “so much pain” in the actor, adding that she had a “disgusting feeling” that has yet to subside.
