Amy Schumer traumatized by Will Smiths slap in the face

Amy Schumer ‘traumatized’ by Will Smith’s slap in the face for the 2022 Oscars

Amy Schumer is “still triggered and traumatized” after Will Smith punched Chris Rock in the face on Sunday night.

The Oscars 2022 co-host, who served alongside Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall, addressed the now-infamous slap in the face on Instagram early Wednesday by starting with a joke promoting her new Hulu show, but switched to supporting Skirt.

“I think we can all agree that the best way to unpack what happened is to stream my series @lifeandbethhulu and catch me on tour this fall. But really,” Schumer began.

“Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend @chrisrock and think he handled it like a pro. He stayed up there and gave his friend @questlove an Oscar and it was so disturbing.”

The 40-year-old “Trainwreck” star said she felt Smith must have “so much pain” inside him for him to react that way, and she’s still reeling over what happened.

“I’m still in shock and stunned and saddened,” she finished her note. “I am [sic] proud of me and my cohosts. But yes. Waiting for that sickening feeling to go away from what we’ve all seen.”

The statement is a far cry from the joke Schumer made right after the shocking incident, which was a must-see to ease the extreme tension.

“I stepped out of the Spider-Man costume. Have I forgotten something?” the comic asked sarcastically, drawing laughter from the audience and praise from fellow stand-up star Tiffany Haddish after she flew around the theater disguised as a superhero.

“There is a different atmosphere here. Probably not. Well, anyway!” she added, before jokingly calling Kirsten Dunst a “seat filler,” sparking a controversy of her own that — for whatever reason — she had to address.

Smith, 53, publicly apologized to Rock, 57, via a statement from the Notes app the next day.

“I was out of line and I was wrong. I’m embarrassed and my actions were no indication of the man I want to be,” he wrote in part. “In a world of love and kindness there is no room for violence.”
