Vancouver Canucks defenseman Ethan Bear took a risk at the last Men’s World Hockey Championship and unfortunately he is sidelined for six months due to the injury he sustained during the tournament.
The British-Colombian organization announced on Thursday that the athlete, who will turn 26 in ten days, has undergone shoulder surgery.
Bear played for Canada in May and took part in eight World Cup games.
The Saskatchewan native will become a restricted free agent on July 1. His injury could affect his next contract. The right-back just signed a full-season deal with a salary of $2.2 million.
In his first season in Vancouver, Bear had 16 points in 61 games to maintain a +6 lead. During his career, he also defended the colors of the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes.
