Buba Nulisch’s dog had helped him through some of the toughest trials of his life. When the man woke up from the coma and found his best friend missing, he was devastated and needed help to find him.

Bubba Nulisch lives in Grand Prairie, Texas (USA). His best friend is Bullet, his dog. He had adopted him from a friend whose dog had given birth.

“I don’t know why, but [Bullet] started hanging out with me. So I adopted him,” he told Good News Network. The puppy had grown up and become his first support and confidante.

He had helped Bubba Nulisch out of a “deep depression” when he was at the bottom of the wave. The Texan, a former truck driver, had lost his job due to his health problems. Only thanks to the four-legged friend had he managed to hold on. “He’s really helped me emotionally and brought me so much happiness and joy,” he says.

On April 18, 2023, the ex-trucker was hospitalized with a bacterial infection. The doctors had to put him in an artificial coma. He woke up three weeks later and the first thing on his mind was seeing Bullet again. Unfortunately, he was informed that his dog was missing.

Completely distraught, Bubba Nulisch called for help on Facebook. He was seen by Kim Joppie, founder of a dog rescue organization in Dallas. She had recently brought Bullet in and didn’t know who he belonged to. She was delighted to finally find its owner and return it to him.

“I will never forget what she did”

The volunteer therefore sat in the front row to witness the moving reunion of Bullet and his human. “They were so bonded,” says Kim Joppie. It was so nice. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

The two friends came home and quickly resumed their good old habits, like watching TV together.

“Kim is an angel,” said Bubba Nulish. I am so grateful to him for bringing it back to me. I will never forget what she did.”
