Eight people were reportedly injured in an explosion caused by a gas leak that destroyed several apartment buildings under construction in the Orleans district of eastern Ottawa, Ontario, on Monday morning.
The exposure happened just after 6 a.m. in the Tenth Line and Shallow Pond areas, according to Ottawa Fire Services. “Gas is still leaking at the moment,” he tweeted just after 7am.

Paramedics confirmed eight people had been treated, including a man who was transported to Ottawa Hospital’s trauma ward in stable condition. “None of the wounds give life [des blessés] in danger,” they wrote on Twitter.
Several roads have been closed, including Tenth Line Road between Sweetvalley Street and Harvest Valley Avenue. Buses have also been dispatched to take in evacuated residents, according to Ottawa Police, who are urging citizens to avoid the area.
