The Athletics are desperately trying to leave Oakland for Las Vegas, and the team’s performance just makes the fans who are still in attendance uncomfortable.
According to ESPN, the A’s 42 losses before June 1 is an all-time major league record. The month of May isn’t over yet as the California organization has five more games to play against the Houston Astros (28-21) and the Atlanta Braves (31-19).

The Athletics have just 10 wins in 52 games. At this rate, they would only have 31 wins overall this season, which would be a new sign of mediocrity in the modern era. It’s the same concession that had that sorry record of 36 wins and 117 losses when it was in Philadelphia in 1916.
The A’s have played their last seven away games and return to the Oakland Coliseum on Tuesday night. In their last home series, in mid-May against the Arizona Diamondbacks, they hosted fewer than 4,200 fans over the three games.
The file for moving to Las Vegas is going well, with land already selected for the construction of a new stadium. The Athletics are expected to use a property near the Tropicana Las Vegas hotel on the famous Strip.
A vote on moving the team to Nevada could also be held at the June 13-15 Major League Owners’ Meeting in New York, according to Commissioner Rob Manfred.
