Today the cinema comes with three important films: a classic like Hitchcock's “The Birds”, Tarantino's first film “Reservoir Dogs” and Coppola's rise to renowned director “The Godfather”. In addition, La 1 is broadcasting three episodes of its new adventure series Zorro and La Sexta offers the usual appointment with Lo de Évole, this time with an interview with Ana Belén.
Ana Belén, in “Lo de Évole”
9:25 p.m., The Sixth
Tonight Jordi Évole interviews Ana Belén as part of her program in which the artist reflects on her career a few days before presenting the Goya Awards gala with Los Javis. Menorca is the chosen location for the conversation, a place that has become Ana Belén's intimate refuge. The lecture will not miss a review of current politics and Me Too in Spanish cinema.
'The Godfather'
10 p.m., Movistar Classics
The Godfather. USA, 1972 (175 minutes). Directed by: Francis Ford Coppola. Actors: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall.
Coppola was 33 years old when he directed The Godfather. He was an almost new filmmaker who, against all odds, created a monumental film, an example of gangster cinema and a great introspective portrait that became a clear X-ray image of man, his ambitions, cruelties and special codes of honor. His success enabled Coppola to later film “The Godfather II,” “Apocalypse Now,” and many other masterpieces.
Triple episode of “Zorro”
10 p.m., 1
TVE's new adventurous fiction returns tonight with a triple episode. Among other adventures, the hero faces an open war against the governor and must also face the auction of Ramírez's lands, in which there seems to be a winner in advance: the Russian-American company. After Diego tries to make sure Andreyevich doesn't come to the auction, he receives a visit from the bear clan.
'birds'
11:35 p.m., TCM
The birds. USA, 1963 (118 minutes). Director: Alfred Hitchcock. Actors: Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor.
A cruel combination of psychoanalysis and terror with which Hitchcock once again examines the fragility of everyday life. The Master torments his characters with the fantastic attacks of mad birds, but also with more earthly horrors that take the form of possessive mothers and unacknowledged loves.
'Reservoir Dogs'
0.25, XTRM
USA, 1992 (100 minutes). Director: Quentin Tarantino. Cast: Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn.
Tarantino could hardly have imagined that his first film would make him the benchmark of nineties cinema. With “Reservoir Dogs” he pulverized cinema screens thanks to an irreverent and angry look that created a plot as tense and aggressive as if it had been created by an acrobat. Tarantino, full of cinematic vibrancy, connects the adventures of several characters who team up to rob a bank in a heist that the viewer will never see; He will only worry about the consequences.
